1st Workshop on Experimental Evaluation and Deployment Experiences on Vehicular networks (WEEDEV 2008) March 18, 2008, Hotel Grauer Baer, Innsbruck, Austria (in conjunction with TRIDENTCOM 2008) *** Extended submission deadline: January 14, 2008 *** SCOPE: Many people in modern societies spend a lot of time in their cars. Communication possibilities in vehicles have been restricted in the past mainly to cellular communication networks. Enabling broader communication facilities in cars is an important contribution to the global trend towards ubiquitous communications. Cars should provide access to Internet and should be able to communicate among themselves, supporting new services and applications. The objective of this 1-day workshop is to attract the most recent developments in the area of experimental evaluation and deployment experiences on vehicular networks, and bring together active researchers in an environment that encourages discussion and exchange of ideas. SPECIFIC TOPICS OF INTEREST: Topics of interest include (but are not limited to): * IP Network Mobility (NEMO). * IP mobility. * Multi-hop (ad-hoc and mesh) routing. * Multi-hop (ad-hoc and mesh) addressing auto-configuration (IP autoconf). * Multi-hop (ad-hoc and mesh) security. * QoS in multi-hop (ad-hoc and mesh) networks. * Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks (VANETs). * Integration of MANET and NEMO technologies (MANEMO). * Vehicular Wireless networks. Submitted papers should have practical evaluation and/or deployment experiences as their main subject or they should use experiments to validate their modelling/analysis results. Workshop papers will be included in the TRIDENTCOM conference proceedings. Best workshop papers will be selected for publication in the following special issues: Special Issue of "Mobile Networks & Applications" on Mobility of Systems, Users, Data and Computing, and Special Issue of "International Journal of High Performance Computing and Networking (IJHPCN)". SUBMISSION GUIDELINES: Paper submissions will be handled electronically via EasyChair. Authors should prepare a PDF or a PostScript version of their full paper. Papers must be no longer than 8 double-column pages, including references, figures and tables, formatted according to the IEEE 8.5" x 11" proceedings format. COMMITEES: Workshop chair: Carlos J.
